One of the most common mistakes while reciting the Qur’an, is to pronounce the word Allah in a heavy or a soft way, permanently.

Actually, there are some rules that make it clearer and easier.

The soft case:

We pronounce the word Allah softly, when we see a kasrah letter before it.

– Kasrah letter is the letter which has a small dash below.

Allah-Article-Basmallah

 

In this photo above, we can see the letter Meem with Kasrah (مـِ), Which means that we have to pronounce the word Allah softly.

The heavy case:

We pronounce the word Allah heavily, when we see Fathah or Dammah letter before it.

– Fathah letter is the letter which has a small dash above.

– Dammah letter is the letter which has this sign (  ُ ) above.

Allah-Article-Ikhlas

Allah-Article-Nisa

 

In this photo above, we can see the Haa letter with Dammah ( ـهُ ), which means we have to pronounce the word Allah heavily.

Finally, the word Allah has different ways to pronounce, it depends on the letter before it. If the letter before is Kasrah, then we have to pronounce it in a soft way. If the letter before is Fathah or Dammah, then we have to pronounce it in a strong and heavy way.
