Obstacles to learning Qur’an – Procrastination

27 Jan Obstacles to learning Qur’an – Procrastination

“I will do it tomorrow”

How many times have you said this sentence? How many times have you convinced yourself you will really do it tomorrow? Until now, tomorrow has not come. Actually, you have not started yet.

The biggest enemy that you face to get something done is the procrastination. It has the ability to stop you where you are without any progression. In this blog, we will try to focus on how to overcome the procrastination, and take a step to start learning Qur’an.

A lot of us cope with the procrastination in a rational way. Remember exams days when you make a study plan, and to do list to schedule each task in a specific time, but the resultant always zero. This result shows because you skip very important part in this process, this part as the spark. You skip the emotional part, the desire to get something, the motive to start something and finish it.

If you want to learn Qur’an, you need to remember the returns that you will get from learning it. This will create the spark and give you the motive to start, and then finishing what you have started insha’allah.

Here is a reminder of the reward of learning Qur’an and following its instructions:

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.” (Al-‘Israa’: 9)

As well as, there are a lot of Sunnah, which talk about the great bounty of learning Qur’an and reciting it, as well:

‘Uthman bin ‘Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.”

[Al-Bukhari].

Here is another Hadith talks about the rank of the person who was devoted to Qur’an:

‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The one who was devoted to the the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.”

[Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi].

The last Hadith is for those who find it difficult to recite Qur’an, and the reward of them:

‘Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have a double reward.”

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

At the end, we hope that you get encouraged by this reminder, find the spark to start learning Qur’an today, not tomorrow.
